After our sessions at Zürich & Lausanne, I was invited personnally for the meeting of UNESCO Swiss Schools Conference, to provide our project recommandations to be implemented on further education. On the 14th and 15th of May 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to represent our project as a member of the Future Council at a prestigious UNESCO event in Geneva, Switzerland. It was a delightful experience that not only allowed me to share our work but also to connect with inspiring individuals from UNESCO schools and other representatives. Here’s a recount of this remarkable journey.
Day 1: Engaging Discussions and Networking
The event commenced on the 14th of May with a warm welcome at the United Nations Office at Geneva. The venue, steeped in history and significance, set the tone for the days ahead. As a member of the Future Council, I was particularly excited to meet fellow delegates and share insights about our ongoing projects.
The first day was filled with engaging sessions where representatives from various UNESCO schools in Switzerland discussed their initiatives and the challenges they face. It was enlightening to see the diverse approaches taken to address educational and social issues. The discussions emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving positive change.
One of the highlights of the day was my speech. Standing at the podium, I felt a mix of excitement and responsibility as I shared our project’s vision and achievements. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it was heartening to see the enthusiasm and interest from the audience. A particularly memorable moment was meeting Mrs. Gabriela Tajeda, the Vice President of UNESCO Switzerland, who complimented my speech and the lines I had delivered. Her encouraging words were deeply appreciated and added to the sense of accomplishment.
#### A Memorable Evening
The evening of the 14th was reserved for a delightful dinner in Geneva. It was an exquisite affair, offering a perfect blend of great food and stimulating conversations. This dinner was more than just a meal; it was an opportunity to network, share experiences, and build relationships. I had the chance to meet several new people, including key UNESCO representatives and fellow delegates. The exchange of ideas and perspectives was enriching, and it was wonderful to see so many passionate individuals committed to making a difference.
Day 2: A Visit to the ICCR Museum and Eduki United Nations
The second day began with a visit to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICCR) Museum. The museum is a powerful testament to humanitarian efforts worldwide, and walking through its exhibits was a deeply moving experience. As part of the program, I also gave a speech here, which was a profound honor. Sharing our project in such a significant setting underscored the importance of our work and its potential impact. I also had the pleasure of meeting the director of the ICCR Museum, whose dedication to preserving and presenting the history of humanitarian work was truly inspiring.
Later in the day, we were invited to the Eduki United Nations as a group of UNESCO members. This visit was particularly inspiring as it highlighted the ongoing efforts in education and youth empowerment. The discussions focused on future collaborations and the role of young leaders in driving change. It was motivating to see the dedication and commitment of everyone involved.
Reflecting on the Experience
Participating in this UNESCO event was a truly enriching experience. It provided a platform to showcase our project, learn from others, and build meaningful connections.
